    Urinary Bladder Meridian Massage

The cold weather of winter months can put extra stress on our kidney and bladder organs, according to The Five Element Theory in TCM. The following massage will stimulate qi flow through the bladder meridian and help with problems of frequent urination, bladder inflammation and infections, lower back pain, sciatica, and tightness in the backs of the legs. It can also help if you are easily scared, complain a lot or have difficulty taking risks in life. If you are doing the massage by yourself, start with the head and continue with areas of the back you can reach, finishing at the little toe of each foot.

Start at BL 1 (Jingming) on the face and move in one direction to the end. Use your fingers, thumb or palm to apply gentle pressure along the entire meridian. Remember to massage meridians on both sides of the body. When you reach the end, go back and massage BL 40 (Weizhong) at the back of the leg with thumb or finger, circling 36 times, for the relief of lower back pain, sciatica, knee pain, summer heat and heat stroke.
