Triple Heater Meridian Massage
Also called San Jiao, triple warmer, or triple heater, this yang mate of the pericardium is responsible for metabolism of heat and fluids in the three parts of the torso: respiration, digestion and elimination. Massaging the meridian benefits sleep and hydration of the body. It helps with sensitivity to hot and cold temperatures, heat in lungs and spleen, and mental obsessiveness.
Start at SJ 1 (guanchong) and move in one direction to the end. Use your fingers, thumb or palm to apply gentle pressure along the entire meridian. Remember to massage meridians on both sides of the body. When you reach the end, return to SJ 4 (yangchi) massaging and circling 36 times with thumb and finger. This point is useful to relieve pain in the wrist, regulating temperature and fluid metabolism, and in cases of dry mouth.
