    Qigong in the News

As a follow up to my article last week, I thought it might be interesting to see how Qigong made the news outside of Asia in 2010.

    • More than 100 Qigong practitioners, medical doctors and research scientists gathered in Rome in October to discuss how to use Qigong for health maintenance and medicinal healing.

    • Ghana held the first ever International Healing Qigong seminar in Africa in June.

    • A program in Zagreb Croatia was organized by the Croatia Paraplegic and Tetraplegic Association to teach tai chi to its members in wheelchairs.

    • The New England Journal of Medicine reported that tai chi has been found to be effective in treating fibromyalgia based on randomized controlled trials undertaken by the National Fibromyalgia Association.

    • The first English translation of China’s only official textbook on the study of Qigong in Chinese Medicine was published entitled Chinese Medical Qigong.

    • A first English novel based on Qigong and tai chi theory was published: 2012: The Awakening by Bill Murray
