Getting the most out of Acupressure
If you have ever wondered if you are doing acupressure correctly, here are some guidelines to follow:
-
Always use your thumb to press the acupoints. Make sure your thumb is facing the body and exert pressure towards the body until you begin to feel soreness.
-
Press on the point for 10-12 seconds, then release and relax for one second. Repeat two more times so that each point has pressure applied to it 30 – 36 times, with two one second breaks.
-
Do not eat or drink anything for half an hour before or after doing acupressure.
-
Remember to press the same points on both sides of the body.
-
If you are using acupressure for a health condition, make sure you do it regularly for best results, three times a day, with a minimum three hour gap between sessions.
