Ear Massage
Auricular acupuncture is a very effective treatment for many conditions and illnesses. Massaging and rubbing the ear can also be beneficial and is an easy way to maintain health and adjust qi imbalances. So let’s take a look at what you can do with your ears at home.
A healthy ear is thick, pink and glossy, indicating good energy and blood flow.
Pale ears suggest pathogenic cold symptoms, excess yin, insufficient yang energy.
Red flushed ears indicate excess fire ascending.
Dark ears usually show pain problems, such as angina or digestive pain.
Thin ears indicate deficient kidney qi; the thinner and darker the ear, the more severe is the deficiency.
Massage both ears twice daily – once in the morning and once before going to bed.
For the reproductive system, limbs and joints: Pull the top of the ear upward and rub and knead until it feels hot. Pull it 15-20 times.
For the spine, shoulders and elbows: Rub and pull the helix (the folded rim of skin and cartilage of the outer part of the ear) between thumb and forefinger till hot. Pull outward 15-20 times.
For head, eyes, teeth and complexion: Pull and rub the earlobe till hot. Pull downward 15-20 times.
Finish the massage by placing the palm of each hand over each ear and gently push/release nine times.
